DENTIST - Norwood, MA

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re afraid of the dentist, but intrigued by our practice, you may have many questions about us.  Don’t worry.  We get them all the time.  In fact, we’ve posted our most commonly asked questions and their answers below.  If you don’t see the information you need, we are more than happy to help you when you call our office at 781-688-0248.

The dental field, like any other medical field, is always changing.  Every year, new and improved dental techniques and technologies are introduced, so Dr. Livshin works hard to keep up with all the latest information.  He attends continuing education, advanced training seminars, and conferences regularly.  Dr. Livshin is also an avid reader of the latest research and technology reviews.  At Landmark Dental, our team always goes above and beyond to ensure you receive the highest quality care in complete comfort.

Yes. Landmark Dental has a digital imaging system. We can take pictures of your teeth with our digital and intra-oral camera and use our imaging system to show you how a particular treatment would enhance the appearance of your teeth. If you have questions about our digital imaging system, we are always happy to demonstrate how it works.

At every appointment that you have with us, we will encourage you to set up your next one.  The interval between your checkups and cleanings should normally be six months, unless you need them more frequently based on certain conditions.  We will remind you by email or phone a few days before each upcoming appointment.

Of course, and we often receive referrals from nearby dentists for patients who experience dental phobia or anxiety.

There are two ways to find out if we participate with your dental insurance network or not:

(A.) You are welcome to call your dental insurance provider, give them Dr. Livshin's name and our address (77 Access Rd. Ste. 1, Norwood, MA 02062), and ask them if we are part of the same network as your insurance plan.

(B.) You can call us.  We will need you to provide certain information about your dental insurance and based on that, we will do our best to figure out if we participate with your plan.

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we do ask that you notify us at least 48 hours in advance, otherwise we reserve the right to charge a broken appointment fee.

With nervous patients, we know many people try to put off a dentist’s appointment rather than go. You may not realize it, but you may be compounding existing problems by waiting; putting off a visit may eventually mean spending even more time and money in the dentist’s chair. If you feel nervous, please call our practice to speak with Dr. Livshin at 781-688-0248, so we can discuss your concerns.

Please call our office at (781) 688-0248 if you experience a dental emergency at any time.  We will do our best to get back to you as soon as we can, even after hours.

If your temporary crown falls off or breaks, try to reattach it using denture adhesive or toothpaste. If the crown is broken, store it in a plastic bag or other container. Whether your temporary crown is broken or just dislodged, contact our team. We’ll schedule an appointment right away to reattach or replace your temporary crown.

You are welcome to call our office at 781-688-0248 or email us at landmarkdent@gmail.com any time outside of your visit, and Dr. Livshin will be happy to get back to you.

We take several precautions to ensure your safety as our patient. First, we keep up-to-date on the latest sterilization procedures and research. Our office complies and exceeds OSHA standards for safety. Our instruments are thoroughly sterilized in accordance with ADA accepted guidelines. Most importantly, we have a sterilization center where we can maximize efficient sterilization and minimize the chance of contamination through human error. If you have any questions, we would be happy to demonstrate our sterilization procedures.

Many things make us different. At Landmark Dental, we’ve structured our entire practice, from our relaxing facility to our friendly, gentle team to our services, around fearful patients. We offer sedation dentistry so you can remain calm while Dr. Livshin and our team treat you with our advanced restorative dental services. Often, we can combine several appointments into one or two with sedation.

The best way to experience what makes us different is to call Landmark Dental at 781-688-0248 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Livshin.

The whining sound of a drill can make the most comfortable person squirm. Depending on the procedure, we can use electric instruments, which are quieter and more comfortable. If you are still concerned, we can use sedation to help you relax. Dr. Livshin is always happy to talk about or demonstrate how these tools or sedation work. Ask during your visit or call our practice at 781-688-0248 for more information.

Yes! You should be very concerned about bleeding gums, especially if you haven’t had a check-up in a while. While it may seem harmless, bleeding gums may indicate a variety of serious health problems, including gum disease. If your gums are bleeding, call us as soon as possible at (781) 688-0248 to schedule an appointment so we can analyze the cause.

Absolutely. Our entire practice is built around helping people who don’t like visiting the dentist get the treatment they need in a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. We offer a variety of amenities, including sedation dentistry, to help you. With sedation, you will feel very sleepy, comfortable, and pain-free while we provide you with the treatment you need.

Sedation is effective and extremely safe. Everyone on our team has been specially trained to use sedation and we can closely monitor your progress during your dental treatment. We offer several types of sedation, but we need to talk to you first before we can recommend a specific sedation method. If you have questions about sedation, call us at 781-688-0248 for more information.

Brushing cleans about 80% of your teeth while flossing covers the remaining 20%. Although that seems like a small percentage, this area is where all of the big problems originate. That’s why Dr. Livshin believes that cleaning this area by flossing is very important. When you come in for your appointment, we can discuss the benefits of flossing and ways to improve your flossing techniques.

There are a variety of treatments we offer to improve the appearance of your teeth without braces. Since each mouth is unique, we need to examine your teeth to determine the best method to improve your smile. Call Landmark Dental at 781-688-0248 so we can schedule an appointment for you with Dr. Livshin. After listening to your goals and concerns, he can suggest ways to help you straighten your smile.

TRANSFORMING LIFE-CHANGING RESULTS

Dr. Livshin’s extensive training and expertise in general dentistry, including implants and oral surgery gives him a unique opportunity to treat patients in his office without frequent referrals. This saves patients a significant amount of time and expense and becomes even more important when many procedures are performed at one time with the use of conscious sedation or intravenous general anesthesia. Dr. Livshin’s patients are happier and more comfortable seeing the same doctor take care of most of their dental needs and sedation options are a critical component in returning fearful patients to good oral health.
